Language Arts (Reading) Assessments
- DIBELS 8 (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills 8)
- This is our reading screener with each individual assessment timed for one minute. Below is the list of assessments.
- LNF (Letter Naming Fluency) - The ability to name letters in the alphabet. Your child looked at a sheet of both upper and lowercase letters.
- PSF (Phonemic Segmentation Fluency) - The ability to say all of the sounds found in a word. An example word is “cat”. Your child should say “c” “a” “t”.
- NWF - CLS (Nonsense Word Fluency - Correct Letter Sounds) is the ability to correctly sound out letters in make believe words. An example word is “hap”. Your child should say “h” “a” “p”.
- NWF - WRC (Nonsense Word Fluency - Word Read Correctly) is the ability to read make believe words. An example word is “lum”. Your child should say “lum”.
- WRF (Word Reading Fluency) is the ability to read words. An example word is “and”. Your child should say “and”.
- ORF (Oral Reading Fluency) - The ability to read a story fluently (quickly) and correctly.

- This assessment involves reading words such as "my" "by" "why" "try" "first" "friend"

- IDI (Informational Decoding Inventory)
- This assessment targets specific areas within the components of reading
- Short Vowel (CVC "cat" "run" "sit")
- Consonant Blends & Diagraphs ("bl" "sh")
- r-Controlled Vowel Patterns ("ar" "er")
- Vowel-Consonant-e (CVCe "cake" "note")
- Vowel Teams ("ea" "ee" "oa" "oo")
- This assessment targets specific areas within the components of reading
- Uppercase and Lowercase Letters (September Only)
